Band

The TRAC Band is a proud and energetic group of 30 plus musicians. If you play clarinet, flute, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, euphonium or tuba, you can join the TRAC Band. There are also some places for drums, percussion, guitar, bass, and keyboard. TRAC Band plays a variety of concert band and big band repertoire, with and without vocal soloists, encompassing jazz and funk charts, pop and rock songs, and movie themes. Parts are arranged to include beginner to intermediate players, and to inspire and motivate our more advanced players. Our Band rehearses during Chapel each Wednesday, and performs at Chapel, at local Eisteddfods, and the Sydney School Band Festival. band in Sydney

Orchestra

Created for our growing community of string players, the TRAC Orchestra is the place to play for those musicians who play violin, viola, cello or double bass. Many other musicians join the orchestra just because they love sound and the repertoire. Other instruments in our orchestra include acoustic guitar, keyboards, clarinets, flutes, trumpets, trombones and euphonium. Our Orchestra rehearses each Wednesday lunchtime, and performs at Chapel, at local Eisteddfods, and at the Sydney School Orchestra Festival. Special arrangements of classical music, pop tunes and movie themes enable players from beginner to advanced level to play together in this ensemble.

TRAC Band and Orchestra Mentorship Program

In Term 4 of each year, we invite selected students from the Stage 4 Music Course, and any beginner students from other years, to join the TRAC Band or TRAC Orchestra. Students are given a mentor, or “buddy”, to help them transition into permanent membership of these ensembles. This mentor, or buddy, is usually a more senior student who plays their instrument. The mentor provides support for the new ensemble members, helping them to play their parts and feel comfortable in their new music-making environment.

College Drama Performances and Musical

The College Drama Department presents short productions every year. In Term 4, 2016 we presented a selection of one act plays in the style of surrealist comedy. A Musical has been performed by students every second year since the College was established.

In 2017 we will be performing Justin Sepple’s “Disco Inferno”. This highly acclaimed 70’s musical combines a hilarious script with over 20 hits from the unforgettable era of glitter, flares and platform shoes.
